Christian lioness wins young player of the euros

England forward Michelle Agyemang was named UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Young Player of the Tournament on 27th July 2025.

The 19-year-old, a devout Christian who wears crosses on her socks, was “raised on gospel music” and plays the piano to get into the zone before matches. She is a member of the Christian football group Ballers in God and proudly features a cross in her Instagram bio.

Agyemang has firmly established her place in the England squad. In the quarter-finals, her goal against Sweden led the team to a penalty shoot-out. The Lionesses then stormed into the semi-finals, where she once again proved vital—scoring a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser.

Following England’s triumphant victory in Sunday’s final, the breakout star gave all the glory to God, telling the BBC: “I thank God for where He’s brought us as a team. We’ve won, we’re European champions.”

Remarkably, just four years ago, Agyemang was a ball girl while her future teammates played at Wembley.

“It’s just surreal to have come so far this quickly,” she said. “It’s only by the grace of God, the teammates around me, the staff, the coaches—everyone’s put in the effort to help me get to where I am, and where the team is today.”
