Eric’s adventures continued …

Eric’s mother was amused.

“What does ‘ready for the kite now’ mean?” she asked.

“We can eat that kite,” Eric said.

“O! Okay! I don’t know if I like the idea of eating the kite but I guess we can try,” Eric’s mother responded.

“We need to trap it first. I read that when you want to trap a kite, you must bait it,” Eric continued.

His mother found this interesting. Eric went ahead and suggested that they use the chickens as bait.

“Where did you learn this?” his mother asked.

“I have been reading the book, Trapping Essentials and I know this kite can be trap. I am going to need some wood and wire mesh. I will make two small square cages. The lower cage will have the bait and the upper cage will be the trap. When anything taps the upper enclosure, it will close the kite inside,” Eric answered.

“Wow! This sounds like a plan. Now, that is the trapping. What is the eating plan?” His mother asked again.

Eric explained that after catching the kite, they would use a spray to neutralize it. But his mother was worried that the spray would kill it.

Eric explained: “No! Remember a spray is for mosquitoes. Remember a kite is bigger than a mosquito. What it does to the kite is to disorganise its head. Me and father will grab it and cut off its head.”

His mother asked again: “Do you want to kill the kite?”

And Eric responded: “To eat it, it must die, like chickens do.”

“Okay! I don’t know if I like the idea but is it possible to stop the kite from eating the chicks!” she responded again.

Eric told his mother that they would put wire mesh all over in the compound to protect the chicken but they needed lots of it.

“Maybe you talk to your father and you decide what is best,” Eric’s mother suggested

“That is a good idea. Thank you, Mother!” Eric said.
