The life of Paul

By Pauline Akello

A long time ago in Jerusalem, Jesus’s friends were telling everyone the Good News that Jesus loves us so much, died for our sins and rose from the dead. Many people believed and gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

God also made a special plan to ensure that this good news spreads all over the world. He chose a man named Saul.

At first, Saul didn’t follow Jesus. He was a Pharisee who followed strict religious rules. He thought Jesus was wrong and tried to stop people from following Him. He even arrested believers!

One day, while travelling to Damascus to arrest more Christians, a bright light from Heaven flashed around Saul. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say: “Saul, Saul, why are you hurting me?” The voice belonged to Jesus! Saul was shocked, and when he tried to open his eyes, he couldn’t see.

Jesus told him to go into the city and wait

In Damascus, a man named Ananias, who loved Jesus, had a dream in which Jesus told him to visit Saul and pray for him. Ananias was scared—Saul had hurt believers like him! But he obeyed Jesus and went. Ananias prayed for Saul and he was able to see again! Even better, Saul now believed in Jesus and was baptised. He changed his name to Paul.

Paul became one of the greatest messengers for Jesus. He travelled to many places, telling people the good news. He started new churches and helped people grow in faith.

Life wasn’t always easy for Paul. He was beaten, put in prison, and even shipwrecked! But he kept going. Paul trusted God and found joy, even in hard times.

When Paul couldn’t travel, he wrote letters to churches. These letters helped Christians grow stronger in their faith. Today, we read them in the Bible, books like Romans, Galatians, Philippians and more.

Paul often talked about a special word: grace. Grace means God loves us, even when we don’t deserve it. We don’t need to be perfect, we just need to believe in Jesus.

Paul’s life shows us that God can use anyone. He can change hearts, bring joy, and help us shine His light in the world.

Even today, we can learn from Paul’s story by reading his letters in the Bible. What an amazing journey with God!
