The Anglican Church of Uganda celebrated the globally recognised All Saint’s Day in style, as thousands of believers flocked All Saint’s Cathedral Nakasero for the dedication of the newly completed cathedral, and consecration of the church’s fifth Assistant Bishop.

The celebrations begun with a procession of the clergy into the cathedral, followed by praying over the church building.

A joyful choir and police prison band led in the worship hymns and songs during the service.

The day’s preacher was Rt Rev Prof Alfred Olwa Bishop of Lango Diocese.

In his speech, Bishop Olwa said: “This building is more than mortar and bricks. It’s a testament of the collective good stewardship of the Christians of this diocese and other friends of Kampala Archdiocese.”

He also described the day as a “momentus” one, re-echoing the Archbishop’s message. Citing Hebrews 12: 1-2, he emphasised the necessity of looking to Jesus as the source of strength and guidance

“Like the saints, we are called to drop the sins that easily entangle each of us, these burdens weigh us down and distract us from our mission,” Bishop Olwa said.

President Yoweri Museveni who was the guest of honor congratulated the Church upon completion of the cathedral. He called upon Christians to embody the values of the parable of talents, referencing the call to multiply one’s gifts. He encouraged Christians to honor their bodies as temples of the Lord.

Addressing the congregants Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi, the chairman organising committee of the New All Saints’ Cathedral described the consecration as a testament to the collective spirit and unwavering commitment to a shared goal. “This Cathedral marks a significant milestone in our spiritual journey and a deep, sustained transformation within the society,”

Other prominent figures in attendance were Hon Rebecca Kadaga, Hon Miria Matembe and Hon Ruth Nankabirwa among others.
