Honouring women: strength, grace, purpose

By Kate Sali

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we recognise the incredible strength, resilience, and grace that women bring to the world. Women are the backbone of families, the nurturers of society, and the silent warriors who shape history through their faith, courage, and compassion.

Proverbs 31:25 states: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” This verse serves as a reminder of the inner strength that God has placed in every woman. Through trials and triumphs, women continue to rise with unwavering faith, uplifting their families and communities with wisdom and love.

From biblical times to the present, women have played vital roles in shaping faith and society. We think of Esther (Esther 4:14-15), who risked everything to save her people, or Ruth (Ruth 4), whose loyalty and hard work led to divine blessings. In the New Testament, Mary Magdalene (John 20:1-2) was among the first to witness Christ’s resurrection, proving that women have always been integral to God’s plan.

In today’s world, women continue to break barriers, lead with integrity, and nurture with kindness. Whether in homes, workplaces, or places of worship, their contributions are invaluable.

To all women, you are valued, you are strong, and you are deeply loved by God. Keep walking in faith, knowing that your impact is immeasurable. May we all strive to uplift, support, and empower the women in our lives—not just today, but every day.

As we celebrate women today, we also recognise the invaluable role of men who uplift, encourage, and stand beside them. Strong communities are built when men and women work together in love and respect. To the fathers, brothers, husbands, and friends who support, mentor, and empower the women in their lives—your encouragement and partnership make a difference. Thank you for being pillars of strength and for championing the dreams and successes of the women around you.

Happy Women’s Day!
