In a world increasingly focused on the commercial side of Christmas, it is easy to forget its original and enduring meaning. Christmas is not the date, or festivities or traditions, it is the celebration of a Person—Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Scripture reminds us, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given” (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus was born not in a palace, but in a manger, revealing a God who comes to us in humility and love. Therefore, through His birth, hope entered a broken world, and salvation was made available to all.
The angel proclaimed, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). This joy is not temporary or dependent on circumstances; it is rooted in Christ Himself. John affirms this truth when he writes, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). Christmas assures us that God is with us—Emmanuel.
As we celebrate, we are invited to reflect, “Have we made room for Jesus in our hearts this Christmas? “
“Does our celebration point others to Christ? (Matthew 28:19-20).
May this season draw us back to the manger, renew our faith, and remind us that Jesus is truly the reason for the season.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the gift of Your life and love. As we celebrate Your birth, help us to keep You at the centre of our hearts and homes. Strip away distractions that draw us from You, and fill us with Your peace, joy, and compassion. May our lives reflect Your light to the world. In your name we pray, Amen.
Wishing you and your loved ones a peace-filled and Christ-centred Christmas.
