Mr Denis Okot, a medical anthropologist and IT Specialist, supports this, explaining: “Telemedicine has enabled diagnosis remotely, replacing traditional physical tools with advanced digital platforms. This has expanded access to healthcare globally.”
Furthermore, wearable devices and remote monitoring tools have empowered patients to take control of their health, allowing for real-time tracking and preventive care.
Dr Molino adds: “Wearables like smartwatches and glucose monitors help manage and monitor health conditions effectively.”

Cannulation and sampling machines, mentioned by Dr Molino, are revolutionising routine medical procedures, making them faster and more accurate. Additionally, minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic surgery have significantly reduced recovery times while improving outcomes.
AI has also played a critical role in precision medicine. “Managing diabetic patients with manufactured insulin using infusion pumps is a prime example of AI’s benefits in healthcare,” Dr Molino says. These technologies provide tailored solutions, improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Okot emphasises the need for thoughtful implementation, stating: “Confidentiality must remain a top priority, and policymakers should standardise advancements to ensure equitable access.” Balancing innovation with inclusivity will be key as technology continues to shape the future of medical practice.

Simulators and virtual reality have also revolutionised education and training, offering realistic environments for medical professionals to practice and learn.
